The Crown unveiled at Palm Jebel Ali to promote family tourism

Saturday, May 10, 2008

Dubai's leading property developer, Nakheel, together with Busch Entertainment Corporation, is planning a 380-acre development across the Palm Jebel Ali, called The Crown, targeting the families and conservation.

The Crown will include resorts, hotels, and four theme parks namely the Busch Gardens, Aquatica, Seaworld and the Discovery Cove. Construction of The Crown is expected to begin by the end of the year. It will be linked to the Palm Jebel Ali's main crescent through a tunnel on the western side and through a bridge on the eastern side.

The Corporate Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Busch, Joseph A Couceiro said "It makes a statement even for Dubai."

The Palm Jebel Ali has a unique marine life with 504 water-homes, which is the biggest number of water-homes in the world. Shaikh Mohammed's Floating proverb too, is likely to begin construction by the end of this year, he added.

Busch Gardens will mainly house African animals which can thrive in Dubai temperatures and the Seaworld and Discovery Cove will include dolphins and other marine life.

The Crown will be open for visitors by the year 2012, and will be mainly family-oriented, as Nakheel and Dubai intend to promote family tourism.

The project is still in the planning stages, but Couceiro revealed that they expect several million people in the parks every year.

The Palm Jebel Ali development, including The Crown, is likely to house 57 hotels and 23,000 rooms on the whole, out of which The Crown will contribute 3000 to 4000 rooms.

Nakheel reveals development of Worlds of Discovery on The Palm

Saturday, March 01, 2008

Nakheel has revealed details about its deal with the Busch Entertainment Corportation (BEC), the family entertainment division of Anheuser-Busch Company at the US, to develop four theme parks, named Worlds of Discovery.

The theme parks will include Aquatica, SeaWorld, Discovery Cove and Busch Gardens.
The President and COO of BEC, Jim Atchison, announced the deal with the CEO of Nakheel, Chris O'Donnell and the Managing Director of 'The Palm Jebel Ali', Marwan Al Qamzi at the SeaWorld Orlando yesterday.

Both BEC and Nakheel entered into an agreement this month, for the construction of four theme parks on the second island of the three palm-shaped Islands by Nakheel. BEC, which is based in Orlando, operates ten 'Worlds of Discovery' parks throughout the US.

The 'Worlds of Discovery' in Dubai, will be built on a section of 'The Palm Jebel Ali' known as 'The Crown'. The first phase of 'Worlds of Discovery' will be unveiled during 2012. Apart from the four theme parks, the project will comprise other family tourist attractions such as spas, hotels, resorts, restaurants and shops.

"Dubai has fast become a leading tourist destination in the world, and a major part of the strategy has been attracting world-class entertainment brands to the emirate. We have already entered into partnerships with major brands such as Atlantis, Cirque du Soleil and the Trump. Our partnership with BEC is another example of the growth of Dubai, as a city of global prominence," said O'Donnell.

Al Qamzi said "Worlds of Discovery will turn out to be the attraction of The Palm Jebel Ali, and am already excited about opening the doors to the first visitors during 2012."

Dubai's Falcon City on its way to create records

Thursday, February 21, 2008

Dubai's Falconcity is on its way to create records, as few of its attractions are bound to be bigger than the original landmarks.

Falcon city of wonders Dubai

With the total project value worth Dh.7.5million and being shaped like a Falcon, the project incorporates not only residential units, hotels and theme park, but also imitation of world-famous landmarks, which include Pyramids of Giza, Eiffel Tower, Venice, Hanging Gardens of Babylong, Taj Mahal, and leaning Tower of Pisa.

The Eiffel Tower will be 20 meters taller than that of original in Paris. The largest pyramid will be 40 storeys and 150 meters in height, which is slightly taller than Khufu, the largest of three pyramids in Egypt.

The Chairman of Falconcity, Salem Al Moosa, said "The Great Wall of China will stretch 1.7kms approximately, but, this figure could change based on developments within the theme park. The wall will be higher than a three-storey building, but, on completion, it will be more than quadruple the length of an Olympic running track. The theme park will stretch over an area of 4 million square feet."

Al Moosa says that there will be two museums within the smallest pyramid, which "honour the great civilizations of the world. The Theme park will be one of its kind, and with our own movies and characters, we too can have a great civilization. In March, something, further big could be expected."

Dubai to invest more towards developing Theme Parks

Thursday, August 09, 2007

Plans are on to invest more than Dh.20billion for making Dubai as one of the top-most location to house the most prestigious theme parks in the world.

The ambitious target of Dubai to attract 15 million tourists by 2010 has captured the attention of even the biggest names in the global entertainment business such as the US film studios Universal and Paramount Pictures.

On completion of the projects in hand, Dubai will be the place for rides and attractions based on hits such as the 'Mission Impossible' and 'Titanic' and the emirate would no longer be only a haven for golden beaches and luxury hotels.

Paramount Pictures recently permitted Ruwaad Holdings, a real estate firm to construct a theme park in its name. It will be a Dh.9.2billion mixed-use development, featuring shopping centers, resorts, and hotels. The location for constructing the theme park is yet to be finalized. This project is expected to face a stiff competition from Universal Studios, which will help in setting up a Dh.8billion Universal City at Dubailand. The 6.5m Sq. Ft. project will be one of the largest theme parks in the world, and is expected to draw more than three million visitors to Dubai by 2010.

In the meanwhile, the Al Ahli Group, based in UAE, has entered into partnership with the American Kids TV network, Nickelodeon, to together develop its Dh.3.67 billion Dubai Amusement Park and create content for its entry into local TV entertainment. The amusement park is expected to be opened by 2011, though its location is yet to be known.

The company signed similar licensing deal with Marvel Entertainment, the owners of Spiderman and Batman comic book hero franchises.

Apart from attracting the big names abroad, Dubai is also creating its own Amusement Park themes.
