Omniyat awards The Opus contract to Multiplex

The main construction contract of Omniyat's Dh.1.7bn 'The Opus', a commercial and retail development at Business Bay, has been awarded to Multiplex, one of the leading commercial construction contractors in the region.As per the contract, Multiplex has been given the responsibility of managing the development's construction and timely and on-budget delivery of the development.
The President and Chief Executive of Omniyat, Mehdi Amjad, said "The main factor behind awarding the contract of The Opus to Multiplex, is their excellent track record of delivering highly complex, prestigious and challenging projects. We are confident that Multiplex and Omniyat can work together to complete construction of The Opus in a timely and cost-effective manner."
The Opus, located on a unique 'Island' plot, is ideally positioned to provide tenants exclusivity, with a spectacular view of Burj Dubai and the Signature Towers, without any adjoining properties or projects.
Designed with the commercial tenant in mind, The Opus will be ready by 2010. At present more than 80 percent of the development has been sold out.
The project, designed by Zaha Hadid, the renowned architect, will enhance the Business Bay skyline with its unique, iconic, and artistic architectural structure.

Construction of La Vista Residence project assigned

Al Qandeel Contracting Company and Zahrat Al Safa Construction Company, has together won the combined contract, worth Dh.250million. The work on the residential property development is likely to commence in March this year.

Comprising seven residential buildings, with each being eight storeys high, the La Vista Residence Project, offers a total 832 residential units. The work on the first five buildings will be undertaken by Zahrat Al Safa Construction Company, while the work on the remaining two will be undertaken by Al Qandeel Contracting Company.
The project spreads over a built-up area of 943,000 square feet, covering 290,000 square feet of land. The project, which is likely to be complete by August 2009, offers a studio, single and double bedroom apartments, and is a pure family-oriented community with good schools and shopping malls in the neighbourhood. Other amenities include swimming pool, party hall, gymnasium, sauna and Jacuzzi kids pool, apart from 24 hours security and covered car parking for 860 vehicles.
Located in Dubai Silicon Oasis, in close proximity to the New Ring Road, Emirates Road and Dubailand and Academic City, more than 75 percent of the units have already been sold, ever-since the launch of the project, which happened in May 2007. The prices per square feet have surged by 15 percent, following the launch.

DCC to construct new tower in Meydan City

Located in the heart of Dubai's urban frontier, the project includes a total built-up area of 300,000 square feet, dedicated to luxurious, residential, commercial, and office spaces.
The tower would form a significant contribution to the Meydan City development, which includes 26 storeys, with two basements, a ground level and five podium floors.

One of Dubai's leading real estate developer, Omniyat Properties, has awarded the main construction contract of its 'The Pad' development to a UAE-German joint-venture, Al Rostamani Pegel.The Pad, is an iconic 24-storey futuristic tech-savvy residential real estate development in Dubai, and is also the recipient of the prestigious 'Best International Apartment' award at the CNBC International Property Awards in Las Vegas, which is one of the largest industry accolades of its kind, in the world.

Sorouh awards Dh.465m Shams Abu Dhabi contract to Al Geemi

The integrated development, worth Dh.25billion is the flagship project of Sorouh on Reem Island, which on completion, would house 55,000 residents.
"Al Geemi and Partners are the leaders in construction industry who play a major role in development of Abu Dhabi, and we are happy to work with the leading contractors in the industry," commented Mounir Haidar, the CEO of Sorouh Real Estate.Al Geemi and Partners have been handed over the responsibility to construct the main loop road, internal roads network, water mains, internal utilities, traffic control system, storm water works, street lighting, telecommunications, sewerage, irrigation and gas works.
On completion, Shams Abu Dhabi will comprise 100 towers with 22000 residential units, apart from a park covering one million square feet in area. The entrance of the development would have the eight-tower development, The Gate district with Sky Tower comprising 74 storey and Sun Tower comprising 64 storeys.
The First phase of the project would be complete by 2009.

Zenath begins construction works on Dh.50mn Auto Showroom Complex

Zenath, part of Khalid Abdullah Al Ghurair Group, is constructing a showroom in Partnership with Western Auto, a leading automobile trading company in UAE, also a part of ETA-Star Group.
Spread across an area of 101,000 Square Feet, the auto Showroom Complex comprises seven showrooms with various sizes, located in close proximity to the Emirates Road, Green Community, and the Emirates Road.

Omniyat Properties appointed CSCEC as main contractor for Bayswater project

The project, which is expected to come up on a prime waterfront location in Business Bay district, Dubai, has now stepped into its second phase, after the enabling works were completed by Al Dhafra Piling Contracting Company (APCC). At present, about 25 percent of the main construction and 33 percent of the overall development have already been completed.
Omniyat Properties have agreed that the work is progressing as scheduled, and the work is likely to be completed by the third quarter of 2008.

City of Arabia appoints Hill International for supervision of Mall of Arabia construction

Hill International has worked on major construction management projects such as the Shams in Abu Dhabi, Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, New York Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and Comcast Center in Philadelphia.

DIP awards office tower project worth Dh.200 million to DCC

The project involves development of a luxurious forty five storey commercial tower, with a separate fourteen storey car park and two basements on Sheikh Zayed Road.

Nakheel appoints SMRTE for operation of the Palm Monorail project

The contract will be finalized and SMRTE will soon be appointed as the operator for The Palm Monorail.
The contract was awarded to SMRTE by Nakheel through a competitive tender. There were four international submissions that have been reviewed over a span of three months.
The Palm Monorail is the first of its kind in the Middle East, and is expected to be developed by a group of major international companies under the leadership of Marubeni Corporation. The monorail is a Hitachi-based double tracked system that are 5.45kms elevated with four stations. The project is hundred percent automatic and driverless, although an attendant will always be available on board. The monorail has the capacity to carry about 2400 passengers per hour in each route in four separate trains, with three cars. The maximum capacity would be to carry 6000 people in nine vehicles.
The construction work is expected to be completed by November 2008, and happens to coincide with the Atlantis launch, The Palm Jumeirah.
The Palm Monorail, apart from being the first such system in the region, will also turn out to be a global milestone for the transportation industry.

L&T joint venture wins construction deal worth $150m

The Victory Heights Golf Residential and Development is basically a joint-venture between the Dubai Sports City and Arcapita, an investment Bank based in Bahrain.
The L&T-ECC joint venture will construct the final phase of the Victory Heights luxury residential community project in Dubai Sports City.
The project comprises construction of 295 villas in the Calida, Novelia, Carmen and Morella villages of the community. The entire project of Victory Heights covers 25 million square feet of space and contains 935 town homes and villas located in and around 'The Dunes' golf course. Prices begin from Dh.2.87 million.

Al Mazaya appoints GCC as main contractor for Dh.1.25b project

The project comprises three towers of forty five storey each, for commercial purpose. The cost of construction is said to touch Dh.799million. The project is scheduled for delivery by 2009.
The Executive Manager and CEO of Al Mazaya Holding, Khalid Esbaith, said “The economic growth of UAE has prompted several international firms to open branches in the UAE and Dubai. However, there is a lack of office space. Al Mazaya Business Avenue will help in alleviating the shortage of commercial office space to a great extent.”
Among the three towers of the project, the first tower was snapped by the Hilal Al Zarroni Group and Dynasty Enterprises for $111 million, the second building was stumped by Hilal Al Zarooni and Baraq Group for $109 million. The third tower will be let out as a long term investment for Al Mazaya to generate revenue.

Victory Heights Villa contract awarded to Al Jaber

The Victory Heights Golf Residential Development is a joint-venture between the Dubai Sports City and Arcapita, a Bahrain-investment bank.
The Phase one comprises construction of the 579 of the total 935 villas of the prestigious victory heights golf course villa community, located within Dubai Sports City.
The total value of the contract is Dh.977million, and the first set of homes will be delivered during April 2008.
The General Manager of Victory Heights, Yasser Abdullah, said "The Victory Heights development is a unique endeavour and choosing the right contractors is imperative to ensure first-class quality. Al Jaber met our stringent requirements with their excellent track record and experience with other high level developments across the region."

The Aldar Resort deal awarded to Six Construct

The construction will include the supervision of the infrastructure development, and its related service. The luxury villas will be developed in different phases and is scheduled for completion by May 2009.
The Al Gurm Resort will be located in the tropical mangrove forests of Abu Dhabi, on the edge of waters with lagoons and indigenous wildlife, with about sixty species of birds. The resort will consist of seventy three luxury homes, and about 158 five-star suites and will be managed by the Banyan Tree Hotel Resorts.
The Aldar Chariman, Ahmad Al Sayegh, said "Aldar is proud of the Al Gurm Resort project. Arabtec awarded the Dh.1billion hotel contract

The work includes the main hotel building construction, comprising four basement levels, mezzanine and ground floors and fifty one storeys, Arabtec has revealed.
The contract is worth Dh.1,076 million, but the company who has awarded the work is yet to be disclosed.
Arabtec Holding, Managing Director, Riad Kamal, said "The participation of DCC with Arabtec in this joint venture is due to the successful track record of earlier joint-venture for the construction work of the Fairmont Hotel in Dubai."
Arabtec, established in 1975, employs more than 24,000 people.

Dh.500m 'The Prism' contract awarded to Commodore Contracting

The President of Credo Investments, Sajjad M. Rashid, and the Commodore Contracting Chairman, Ameen Hesdin, have signed the contract for the project, due to be one of the most prestigious commercial properties in Business Bay.

Ed Zublin awarded the Dh.380 million Injazat contract

Injazat Data System, one of the leading Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO) and Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO) company has announced that the new project will enable advanced IT-enabled services and hosting facility.
The project, located at Madinat Mohammad Bin Zayed in Abu Dhabi, covers 17,000 square meters in area and comprises a two storey Tier IV data center with a data hall of 2000 square meter in size designed to support about 9000 serves and associated infrastructure.
It also comprises a headquarters with five storey, that has the capacity to accommodate about thousand employees, featuring a 200-seat auditorium, library, gymnasium, coffee shop, eight storey car park and other recreational facilities.

Tameer and ACC signs deal worth Dh.605m

ACC has already been custom-made to work on Tameer's Princess Tower in Dubai.
The Elite Residence comprises ninety one storeys with eighty two residential floors, four basements, four car parking floors, covering an area of 1.4 million square feet at a height of 380 meters.
"Our timetable for completion of the project is thirty months, after the preparation of piling operations and the site", says Hassan Auji, ACC General Manager.
